What Is La Rocambolesque?
More than an improv league in Montreal — an open community for all.
La Rocambolesque is a Montreal-based, sociocultural non-profit organization that invites you to discover improvisational theatre in all its forms. For over 20 years, our Montreal improv community has offered a diverse program: improv shows, improv matches, improv cabarets, improv classes, interactive improv workshops, and training programs (Corporate & School) for all levels. Our mission is to make the art of improv accessible to as many people as possible by highlighting creativity, teamwork, and spontaneity on stage.
Founded in January 2005, La Rocambolesque was originally created under the name Ligue d’Improvisation du Bloc. From its very first season, it stood out by incorporating experimental improvisation into its performances. This innovative approach encourages stage exploration, artistic innovation, improvised acting, and the creation of unique characters.
Today, the organization continues to diversify its improv show concepts and offers a broad community of improvisers in Montreal a true space for creative and stage expression. Whether through beginner improv training, team-building workshops, advanced classes for performers, or public performances, La Rocambolesque provides a stimulating environment where everyone can develop their stage presence, voice, physical expression, imagination, listening skills, and emotional range.
